Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has signed an agreement to modernise the cabins of five Boeing 777 aircraft, with an option to upgrade four additional planes, as part of its efforts to improve the passenger experience on long-haul flights.

The phased refurbishment will bring full-flat Business Class seats, refreshed Economy Class seats, 60-watt in-seat charging points and upgraded passenger service systems throughout the cabins. New carpets, branding elements and other interior upgrades are also planned.

The scope covers engineering support, certification, material procurement, logistics and technical coordination, and will be aligned with PIA's fleet plans, maintenance schedules and operational needs.

PIA CEO Muhammad Amir Hayat said the initiative is part of the airline's post-privatisation transformation under its new consortium-led board and management, aiming to raise passenger comfort, convenience and onboard facilities to international standards.

The project involves Aerotec Group and its subsidiary aviationscouts, which will provide interior refurbishment expertise, engineering support and supply-chain coordination.

Refurbishment will be executed in phases, allowing PIA to upgrade long-haul cabins while efficiently using existing aircraft assets, with the airline expecting the changes to give travelers greater comfort and more convenient facilities during their journeys.
