During a session on October 21, the Punjab Assembly raised questions regarding why Lahore Gymkhana Club contributes a mere Rs. 5,000 each year to occupy over 100 acres of prime state property in Lahore. Data shared in the inquiry shows the land beside The Mall carries an estimated worth reaching up to Rs. 218 billion.

Special Committee No. 6 held a meeting where members instructed government representatives to clarify the rent calculation method and check if legal protocols governed the lease. The club secured a 50-year lease extension in 1996, which took effect in 2000.

Salman Siddique, the chairman of Lahore Gymkhana, admitted the existing rent is extremely cheap. He stated that the club ought to contribute a minimum of Rs. 10 million annually given its current money matters.

The panel directed the Board of Revenue alongside other agencies to submit the initial lease paperwork, sanction files, and property valuation specifics. Committee members also voiced worries regarding construction permits, money management, and public access to the government-owned estate.

This investigation seeks to determine how officials cleared the deal and if authorities should alter the rent rate. Officials have not declared any conclusive ruling regarding modifying the lease agreement or taking back the property.
