Provincial authorities in Punjab distributed Rs14.5 billion as stipends to mosque prayer leaders through a smooth and clear system via the Chief Minister Imam Masjid Sahibaan Honorarium Programme.

The Punjab Home Department finished registering over 76,000 places of worship throughout the region, and field teams are currently assisting with geo-tagging efforts.

Khawaja Salman Rafique, who serves as Provincial Minister and Chairperson of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order, led the fifth gathering of the steering committee at the Home Department on Tuesday to evaluate this progress.

According to the minister, the provincial administration assigns over Rs20 billion every year for this initiative, stating his belief that it will yield beneficial outcomes for future generations.

He called the statewide registration of places of worship a difficult task that the Home Department managed to handle effectively.

He noted that prayer leaders contribute significantly to building the nation, and that houses of worship encourage harmony, patience, and good community standards.

Dr Ahmad Javed Qazi, who is the Secretary Home Punjab, updated the attendees on the initiative, explaining that his department supervises its execution and daily operations according to provincial directives.

He mentioned that the stipend payout method was designed to be clear and accessible, and online portal complaints receive quick attention.

Authorities are also setting up a chatbot to assist prayer leaders with problem-solving and quick updates.

The Bank of Punjab and the Punjab Information Technology Board received instructions to quickly fix any problems tied to digital applications.

Attendees learned that prayer leaders need to complete at least one bank transaction every three months to maintain active accounts and prevent payment delays.
