Financial troubles have hit about 4,300 schools managed by the Punjab Education Initiatives Management Authority (PEIMA) because their funding for August and September is still unpaid.
School owners report that the hold-up spanning two months impacts approximately 20,000 teachers and administrators who find it hard to pay for household bills and daily operations.
Administrators noted that roughly 600,000 children attend classes at these institutions, meaning prompt fund disbursement is critical to keep learning going without interruption.
Representatives for PEIMA responded that disbursements to authorized schools are happening in stages, promising that all outstanding balances will be paid off shortly.
