Red Magic formally released the Red Magic 12 Pro+ in China featuring various hardware improvements built for mobile gaming. The brand-new flagship pairs a high-refresh-rate screen, a sophisticated cooling setup, a high-capacity battery, and specific gaming tools like physical shoulder triggers and a 3.5mm headphone port.

Design and Display

The Red Magic 12 Pro+ uses a 6.85-inch BOE X11 OLED screen boasting a resolution of 2,688 × 1,216 pixels alongside a 185Hz refresh rate. Thin 0.96mm bezels frame the device, which lacks a punch-hole camera to maintain a full-screen look on the front. The panel provides a 500Hz touch sampling rate and reaches up to 5,000Hz in instantaneous touch sampling. It also delivers 10-bit color depth, 1,900 nits of global brightness, and a local peak brightness of up to 5,000 nits. To protect user eyesight, the display supports 2,592Hz PWM dimming at lower brightness settings and DC-like dimming when brightness increases. Buyers can choose among Dark Night Transparent, Silver Wing Transparent, and Ice Blue Transparent color options.

Internals and Software

Qualcomm supplies the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor for the Red Magic 12 Pro+, working alongside the Red Magic RedCore R5 gaming chip and G1 display control chip. It supports LPDDR5T memory reaching up to 10,667Mbps and UFS 4.1 Pro storage. For compatible games, the mobile device executes simultaneous super-resolution and frame interpolation up to 2K resolution at 185Hz. Red Magic installed its ICE cooling setup, merging liquid cooling, an active fan, and extra thermal materials. The internal fan reaches speeds up to 25,500rpm and holds an IPX8 water-resistance score, while the phone itself secures IP68 and IP69 ratings against dust and water. Additional gaming and connection options include 700Hz shoulder triggers, dual 1115E linear speakers, three microphones, an X-axis linear motor, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, an IR blaster, USB 3.2 Gen 2, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Operating on RedMagic OS 12 backed by Android 17, the phone incorporates an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner.

Cameras

A dual rear camera array equips the Red Magic 12 Pro+. The main camera employs a 50MP sensor featuring optical image stabilization, while the secondary camera functions as a 50MP ultrawide lens. A 16MP OmniVision camera positioned underneath the display handles selfies and video chats.

Battery and Pricing

An 8,400mAh battery powers the Red Magic 12 Pro+. It handles 120W wired charging and 80W wireless charging, alongside bypass charging that supplies direct power during gaming sessions instead of constantly filling the battery. Within China, the 12GB + 256GB configuration retails for $1,050. The 16GB + 512GB edition sells for $1,200, and the 16GB + 1TB model costs $1,350. Red Magic additionally previewed a limited-edition Golden Saga variant boasting 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, which incorporates a forged-carbon cooling design. The firm has not yet revealed the pricing or launch date for the Golden Saga edition, nor has it confirmed international release plans for the Red Magic 12 Pro+.
