Rawalpindi will receive clean drinking water for more than 250,000 people when the Chahan Dam water supply project wraps up by December 2027.
During a trip to inspect construction at the water filtration plant, Punjab Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering Minister Bilal Yasin made the completion date public.
Calling the undertaking a present from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to the people of Rawalpindi, Yasin stated that the scheme will boost clean drinking water availability and basic municipal services across multiple city neighborhoods.
Representatives from the Water and Sanitation Agency updated the minister on the development, which receives financial backing from the Punjab government and the Asian Development Bank. Construction started in October 2024 for the Rs. 35 billion undertaking.
