Acting on orders from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Chief Traffic Officer Farhan Aslam, the Rawalpindi Traffic Police are preparing a major operation against automobiles releasing smoke that adds to air pollution and smog.
Special squads and inspection units have been organized by the traffic department under instructions from CTO Farhan Aslam to pursue polluting transport. These units will carry out inspections at transport hubs and entry and exit locations around the city.
CTO Farhan Aslam stated that officials will block smoke-producing transport from entering Rawalpindi. Law enforcement will seize offending vehicles and impose substantial fines.
Offending automobiles will stay impounded until the owners acquire proper fitness certificates.
