Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced that the provincial administration will distribute 100,000 electric bikes to students, allocating a greater portion for women.
Students lacking riding skills will get two days of complimentary driving instruction so they can commute freely for studies and daily tasks. The program drew over 1.2 million registrations and more than 600,000 applications.
The handover process begins on November 5, according to the Chief Minister. Maryam Nawaz additionally stated that the fully electric Green Bus fleet in Punjab will keep its Rs. 20 ticket price in spite of rising diesel and petrol costs.
Operating 700 vehicles right now, the provincial administration intends to grow the fleet to 3,000 in the coming six to eight months. These buses provide free rides for students, women, older adults, and disabled individuals.
The vehicles also include air conditioning, Wi-Fi connectivity, and security cameras. Authorities intend to roll out the network across all 148 tehsils in Punjab.
