A Pakistani university aims to establish the nation's first AI hospital in partnership with a Chinese firm.
Riphah International University is forming a strategic alliance with Tairex, an AI healthcare startup incubated by Tsinghua University's Institute for AI Industry Research, to introduce its Agent Hospital system to Pakistan.
The collaboration will address three key areas:
Training: virtual consultation rooms where medical students and doctors practise on AI-simulated patients
Clinical support: AI doctor agents that assist physicians, who retain responsibility for medical decisions
Research, including patient follow-up studies
Speaking by video at the launch in Beijing on 21 October, Riphah Chancellor Hassan Muhammad Khan said the two sides would explore how AI can serve primary care, medical education and research.
