The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan set up a Security Operations Center to improve digital security, spot online threats, and handle attacks against its data networks.
National Database and Registration Authority Chairman Lieutenant General Muhammad Munir Afsar opened the facility on October 20. SECP Chairman Dr. Kabir Ahmed Sidhu, commissioners Imtiaz Haider, Muzaffar Ahmed Mirza, and Zeeshan Khattak joined other top officials at the event.
The SECP stated that the new unit will watch over servers, networks, and cloud platforms continuously to spot security risks and act quickly.
Global benchmarks guided the project, which received backing from the United Kingdom Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office alongside Karandaaz Pakistan, Inara Technologies, and REWTERZ.
SECP Outlines Plans For IT Modernization
During a separate discussion, SECP Chairman Sidhu updated the NADRA head regarding technology overhauls, infrastructure upgrades, and artificial intelligence usage aimed at simplifying business operations.
Plans are also underway to connect capital market institutions to a joint cybersecurity setup, boosting coordination and defense capabilities against digital risks.
Through this strategy, the SECP intends to function more effectively as a sectoral Computer Emergency Response Team, boosting security readiness across capital markets in Pakistan.
This facility represents an additional measure by the regulatory body to secure its digital data and reinforce the technology running its daily functions.
