Supply disruptions and border closures pushed liquefied petroleum gas prices to unprecedented levels across Pakistan, leaving authorities quiet while millions of citizens face the impact.

Distributors of LPG reported that rates surged to Rs. 600 per kilogram in mountainous regions and Rs500 per kilogram across Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to Irfan Khokhar, chairman of the LPG Distributors Association, a residential LPG cylinder reached Rs7,200 in hilly zones and Rs6,000 in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He cautioned that costs might climb even higher soon, increasing economic pressure on families depending on LPG for heating and food preparation.

Khokhar noted that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority established the October rate at Rs279 per kilogram, placing the official domestic cylinder price at Rs3,350.

He condemned the regulatory body for ignoring the massive difference between official figures and actual market costs, stating that buyers face severe overcharging.

Khokhar asked authorities to use the Sui Southern Gas Company terminal and secure fast LPG imports to fix supply issues and calm the market.
