Authorities across the Malakand division initiated an operation in Swat targeting ghost workers, unauthorized government property occupation, and politically motivated postings. Over 400 workers returned to their offices to sign attendance registers after staying away from work for years due to this campaign.
Thirteen workers faced termination from the Water and Sanitation Services Company Swat because they failed to show up for work. Provincial assembly members allegedly influenced the recruitment of these individuals over the past 13 years. These workers collected regular salaries while staying home or working at private homes and hujras belonging to lawmakers instead of doing their jobs.
Malakand Division Commissioner Iqbal Hussain instructed the anti-corruption establishment to probe the situation and get back salaries given to workers proven to be at fault. In a different move, officials took back a government bungalow that Kaleem Saeed, brother of former federal minister Murad Saeed, held for several years.
This building sits inside the tehsil municipal administration grounds near the private home of Kaleem Saeed. Officials previously asked him multiple times to leave the bungalow, but he ignored the notices. Officials then started legal action and took back control of the building.
At the same time, the Swat deputy commissioner moved 22 revenue officials known as patwaris who secured their posts through political pressure.
