Diplomatic sources reported that the United Arab Emirates is issuing an average of 30,000 visas each month to Pakistani citizens, with travel agents also using the system.

Officials said Pakistanis who were deported from the UAE had been linked to offenses tied to regional conflict and aggression toward the UAE; the government chose to ask them to leave rather than imprison or prosecute them.

The same sources noted that no Pakistani has been compelled to exit the UAE in recent weeks, as immigrants now fully understand the issue's sensitivity.

They recalled that 2.2 million Pakistanis are presently employed in the UAE, while deportations in recent months have totalled about 3,500 individuals.

According to the sources, new UAE ambassador Salem Mohammed Al Zaabi has helped improve relations between the two brotherly nations, which have maintained a strategic, economic and cultural partnership since the UAE's founding in 1971.

Pakistanis send billions of dollars in yearly remittances that support Pakistan's economy, and bilateral trade stays near $8 billion, covering energy, consumer goods and real-estate investments.
