Pakistani expatriates in the United Arab Emirates are now eligible to apply for electronic passports, with some fees reaching roughly Rs. 193,040 for specific lost-passport cases.
Starting July 20, 2026, the Pakistani Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General in Dubai will issue only e-passports for new requests. Prices vary according to the passport's validity period, page count, and processing speed.
A 10-year, 72-page passport costs AED 390 under normal service, while urgent handling is AED 635. The maximum fee listed is AED 2,540, about Rs. 193,040, for an urgent replacement of a second lost 72-page passport.
A five-year, 36-page e-passport is priced at AED 145 for regular processing and AED 235 for urgent service.
The new passports meet global aviation standards and embed a chip that holds personal and biometric data to confirm the holder's identity.
Current machine-readable passports will stay valid until they expire. Pakistani residents in the UAE who have more than six months left on their passports have been told to postpone renewal applications.
