A well-known source reports that Vivo might use a 200MP sensor for the telephoto camera on the upcoming X500 Ultra, with the latest engineering sample currently testing a 1/1.2-inch sensor.

That same source mentioned back in July that Vivo looked at three distinct 200MP sensors for this device, but new details indicate a final decision may be reached.

Better low-light photos could result from this larger sensor gathering extra light. This represents an improvement compared to the Vivo X300 Ultra, which uses a 200MP telephoto camera equipped with a 1/1.4-inch sensor. Vivo apparently managed to pack this new component inside without consuming excessive internal room, despite the physical size growth.

Additional hardware details for the upcoming flagship came from the same source. Reports point to the Vivo X500 Ultra housing a Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor alongside a battery near 8,000mAh.

BOE is expected to provide a 6.85-inch LTPO AMOLED screen for the device. Previous reports indicate a China release window between March and April of next year for the X500 Ultra.
