An amputee football match in Buenos Aires between Uruguay's Rampla Juniors and Argentina's Los Teros de Córdoba descended into a brawl after a goal was scored.

Video shows players swinging their crutches at opponents while coaches rushed onto the field trying to halt the chaos.

The clash occurred in the Argentine capital, with the two sides meeting after a tense penalty shootout that left tempers flaring.

When a player missed a decisive spot-kick, rivals rushed into the penalty area to celebrate, sparking the violence.

Shortly after, both teams were seen throwing punches and kicks in front of an astonished audience.

Earlier, a sliding tackle on a downed player had already provoked insults and anger.

Both captains were eventually expelled from the match as a result.

Rampla Juniors later issued a statement on social media condemning the incident.

"We want to make something very clear: we didn't travel to Argentina to fight," the club said.

The club emphasized that their trip was solely for football after months of fundraising and sacrifice.

In the same release, they affirmed belief in the sport as a means of inclusion, respect and opportunity.

They formally recorded the violence and called for an investigation to prevent similar events.

"Violence does not represent us. Football, inclusion, and camaraderie do."

No official comment has yet been received from the Argentine side or the tournament organizers.
