The 2026 Ballon d'Or ceremony has been delayed by half an hour.
The event was scheduled to start at 8 pm UK time in London.
It is now set for 8:30PM while players are still arriving on the red carpet.
An announcement inside the London Palladium said: "Sincere apologies and thank you for your patience, the ceremony will now begin at 8:30pm".
Doors opened for fans at 6:30pm, and the media took their seats at 7:15pm.
The Palladium remains far from full, with large sections of the lower two tiers largely empty.
The cause may relate to chaotic crowds outside the venue.
Many stars have yet to walk the carpet, including frontrunner Kane, as well as Lamine Yamal and Kylian Mbappe.
The delay follows a major error on the Ballon d'Or's official website earlier that day.
Late in the afternoon, the site posted an article claiming Kane had won the award.
English fans' excitement was short-lived when the site also published pages naming Mbappe and Yamal as winners.
All three pages have been removed and organisers have opened an investigation into the mistake.
Kane is the hot favourite after a stellar season for club and country.
The 33-year-old scored a total of 73 GOALS across all competitions, helping Bayern claim the Bundesliga, German Cup and German Super Cup and guiding England to the World Cup semi-final.
If crowned tonight, he would be the first English player to win since Michael Owen in 2001.
Kane told Sky Sports: "It'd be incredible if I do. It'd be special for sure. I'd love to win it, but we will have to wait and see. A big night, but I'm not getting carried away."
