Federal authorities advanced a Rs. 13.323 billion solar power project designed to deliver off-grid electricity to residents living in the newly merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The Central Development Working Party reviewed and cleared the Prime Minister's Solar Scheme for Newly Merged Districts, sending the proposal forward to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council for final clearance.

Households located within these specific regions will receive solar energy setups capable of running without relying on the traditional power grid.

Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal led the Central Development Working Party meeting where officials evaluated 14 different development initiatives with a total projected cost of Rs. 226.48 billion.

Government infrastructure plans include this solar project as one of three principal development ventures slated for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Final authorization from the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council remains necessary before the undertaking moves forward.
