Goods transporters announced a potential strike warning on Monday, broadcast by 24NewsHD TV channel, demanding that the Sindh government allot 17 acres of land for parking after receiving clearance from the Karachi Port Trust.
Representatives from the transport sector met extensively with the Chairman of Karachi Port Trust to explain their complaints and requirements.
Malik Shehzad Awan, who serves as President of the All Pakistan Goods Transporters Alliance, stated that a parking facility is urgently necessary at the port and cautioned that a strike will happen if the property is withheld.
He also pointed out that an earlier strike in August 2026 cost the national treasury Rs450 billion.
