All challenges regarding the boundaries of the federal capital territory's 130 union councils and blocks were thrown out by the regional election commissioner, who serves as the delimitation appellate authority in Islamabad.

This ruling sets the final status for all 130 union councils in Islamabad.

The capital will feature three municipal town corporations, three mayors, and six deputy mayors, according to the new Islamabad Local Government Act.

Every single one of Islamabad's three National Assembly constituencies will contain one municipal town corporation, which are named Municipal Town Corporation-I, II, and III.

Dismissal orders for the objections were released by the delimitation appellate authority, and a full report goes to the Election Commission on Wednesday before the final notification appears.

At the same time, the Lahore High Court bench in Rawalpindi sent back 27 appeals brought by political parties and candidates regarding the delimitation of union councils and councillor blocks in Rawalpindi and Murree districts, ordering fresh hearings by the District Election Commission.

Election authorities received instructions from the court to listen to all petitioners and produce new rulings based on case merits and correct territorial boundaries.

Individual hearings for applicants will take place next week after notices go out, according to the District Election Commission, prior to any new decisions.

Two municipal town corporations, two mayors, and four deputy mayors are established for Rawalpindi city under the new Punjab Local Government Act 2026.

Seventeen local government entities now make up Rawalpindi district, consisting of two town corporations, five municipal committees, six tehsil councils, and four cantonment boards.
