Chief Traffic Officer Lahore Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi instructed personnel to launch a crackdown on unauthorized bus stops and illegal bus stands throughout the city.
Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi issued this order while inspecting traffic flow at 32 Chowk, Shahdara, Lari Adda, and Ravi Road, where he evaluated conditions and demanded prompt steps against unlawful transport activities.
Law enforcement officers received instructions to file cases against motorists who leave vehicles or board and discharge travelers at banned spots. The traffic chief cautioned that duty officers and sector supervisors will face disciplinary consequences if unauthorized terminals operate within their jurisdictions.
Authorities have logged 31 cases this year for halting buses at unapproved holding points, and issued over 2,700 traffic tickets during October alone for offenses related to illegal bus stops and holding spots, based on figures provided by the traffic chief.
All operators must possess valid Heavy Transport Vehicle and Public Service Vehicle permits, according to the new orders. Motorists handling buses without a Public Service Vehicle permit will also encounter legal proceedings.
Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi stated that unlawful bus terminals and holding points remain unacceptable, noting that enforcement targeting those who obstruct traffic movement will persist impartially.
