Two individuals recently tried to cross into Lithuania from Belarus by crawling through a wide drainage conduit beneath a stream, though they stopped their attempt once they noticed border patrols moving toward them.

This event took place within the Druskininkai District of Lithuania, where surveillance equipment spotted two figures coming closer from the territory of Belarus.

Data from the State Border Guard Service of Lithuania indicates that a barbed-wire barrier protects the border in that sector. Still, a conduit routing the Kusenka Stream toward Lake Latežeris runs underneath this security structure.

This conduit measures roughly 2.8 meters across and starts about one meter inside Belarus before passing beneath the fence. Officials previously placed sturdy, lockable iron grates at the Lithuanian exit point to stop illegal entries.

The pair of migrants stepped into the stream on the Belarusian side and crawled into the conduit. They brought metal cutters with them, likely planning to slice through the grates to reach Lithuania.

Nevertheless, surveillance cameras caught their actions, sending officers toward the spot.

Upon hearing a vehicle draw near, the migrants crawled out of the conduit and went back to Belarus without finishing the entry attempt.
