During a sweeping monthlong operation targeting digital offenses across the country, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency took 1,129 people into custody and retrieved Rs. 105.3 million, officials reported on Sunday.
Victims received the recovered funds back, based on the monthly performance data published by the organization.
Data spanning the initial month following Director General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi assuming office showed that the agency handled 5,176 grievances and initiated 4,491 investigations within that timeframe.
Upon finishing those investigations, officials filed 272 formal cases targeting people suspected of taking part in online offenses.
Rizvi stated that defending the public against internet threats stays a primary focus and restated the organization's dedication to enforcing a strict zero-tolerance stance on digital crimes.
He mentioned that because electronic technology forms a central part of daily society, protecting the populace, organizations, and digital systems represents a national necessity alongside a law enforcement duty.
