Pakistanis face active surveillance of their digital habits by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency, according to an official statement. Atif Amir, Additional Director of the NCCIA Lahore Zone, announced the heightened tracking during a press conference.
A dedicated cyber patrolling unit checks social media applications twice daily, once in the morning and once in the evening, Amir explained. He pointed out that the agency concentrates on three specific priorities, which include illegal call centres, online harassment, and social media posts or messages deemed anti-state.
Authorities also target digital material that harms personal reputations alongside incidents involving the harassment of women. The operations seek to spot suspicious internet behavior and pursue individuals suspected of committing cybercrimes.
This advisory emphasizes the heightened scrutiny placed on internet usage within Pakistan. Citizens are urged to weigh their words before posting online, refrain from distributing damaging content, and honor the privacy of others. Furthermore, the NCCIA handles cases related to digital fraud, blackmail, and other cyber offenses.
