Pakistan Test batter Shan Masood might miss the upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka after picking up a calf injury. He is expected to stay out of action for another two to three weeks.

Sources indicate that Masood felt discomfort in his left calf while representing Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) during a President's Trophy Grade-I fixture.

Because of this issue, he cannot play in the final round of the President's Trophy Grade-I.

Insiders mentioned the problem is minor, and the left-handed batsman should resume playing once rehabilitation finishes. Even so, whether he can play in the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka is still unclear.

The Sri Lankan team visits Pakistan starting with a three-day warm-up match in Islamabad scheduled from November 4 to 6. Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium hosts the opening Test between November 9 and 13, while Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore stages the second Test from November 17 to 21.

These two Tests form part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle.

This potential absence arrives only months following his replacement as Pakistan Test captain by Babar Azam in July.

Masood took the role of Test captain prior to Pakistan visiting Australia in 2023, where the squad lost the series 3-0.

Altogether, he captained Pakistan in 16 Tests, achieving four victories and 12 defeats, giving him a 25% win rate.

While he led the team, Pakistan also experienced a 2-0 home series loss against Bangladesh.

The sole series triumph under Masood happened against England in 2024, when the team claimed a 2-1 victory at home.
