Pakistan accepted an invitation to compete in the Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament, which will occur in Malaysia during November 2026.
Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, president of the Pakistan Hockey Federation, stated that the competition will offer national athletes useful international exposure while enhancing their abilities and results.
In addition, the federation verified that Pakistan will welcome the Canadian hockey squad for a bilateral series in Islamabad from February 8 to 21, 2027.
Wani expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming tour, describing it as a significant milestone for bringing back international hockey to Pakistan and improving athletic ties between the nations.
Authorities from the federation will coordinate with the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination and other departments to organize lodging, travel, athletic venues, and protection for the guest squad.
Both nations will see their competitors and staff gain exposure on the global stage and share expertise through the fixtures.
The Under-21 hockey squad of Pakistan is presently visiting Malaysia for the Sultan of Johor Cup.
A development strategy is also underway by the Pakistan Hockey Federation for the Under-18, Under-21, senior men, and women squads, targeting superior coaching, practice venues, and global tournament time.
Plans from the governing body involve enhancing monetary rewards and assistance for athletes alongside opening additional pathways for junior talent to enter the senior national squad.
Wani mentioned that work will persist to return international hockey matches to Pakistan and elevate the output of the country's athletes.
