The Pakistan Microfinance Network recently presented LOLC Microfinance Bank Limited with the Best Turnaround Microfinance Bank Award in the Medium & Small Tier Category, acknowledging the institution's progress, resilience, and transformation inside the microfinance industry of Pakistan.
This accolade highlights a major recovery driven by deliberate changes to financial results, business expansion, and asset quality. During this shift, PAR30 shifted from 19.8% to 3.48%, the portfolio expanded by 171%, and the institution reached profitability, with notable gains noted in January 2026 versus January 2025. Such achievements highlight the results of strict execution, better risk controls, operational updates, and a renewed dedication to lasting expansion.
Farooq Rashid, who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of LOLC Microfinance Bank, stated regarding the award:
This recognition belongs to our entire team. I sincerely thank Mr. Ishara Nanayakkara, Executive Chairman of LOLC Holdings PLC, and Mr. Krishan Thilakaratne, Chairman of the Board, LOLC Microfinance Bank Limited, for their continued faith in our people, our strategy, and our vision for sustainable growth. This award gives us even greater confidence to build on what we have achieved together.
Nizar Noor Ali Momnani, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, discussed the future plans of the institution:
This is an important milestone, but not the destination. Our focus now is to go further, increase our market penetration and make responsible microfinance more accessible and reachable for more customers across Pakistan. We are looking to introduce more customer-centric products and digital services to better facilitate the underserved segment. This progress would not have been possible without the dedication, resilience and commitment of our people, whose collective efforts continue to drive our transformation and strengthen our foundation for future growth.
Ilsam Awfer, holding the position of Chief Operating Officer, pointed out the operational basis supporting the recovery:
Sustainable growth is built behind the scenes I am happy to witness the strong foundation we laid a couple of years before to ensure that credit quality, operational excellence and improving the customers convenience is making progressive results. I believe this will be a key reason for us to achieve the success. We are continuously working to further improve the customer experience by adding value to our existing products and processes.
Acting as a representative body for the microfinance industry in Pakistan, the Pakistan Microfinance Network unites microfinance banks, microfinance institutions, and various participants striving for increased financial inclusion.
Management treats the trophy as a standard for future efforts rather than just praise for earlier work. Maintaining an emphasis on market reach, operational standards, new ideas, and responsible expansion, LOLC Microfinance Bank stays dedicated to widening access to financial services for people, business owners, and neighborhoods throughout Pakistan.
