Pakistan is preparing a national e-sports policy designed to integrate competitive gaming into the country's official sports framework, providing youth with expanded avenues to engage in e-sports.

The upcoming framework also involves setting up a dedicated federation and launching the inaugural National E-Sports Championship to encourage competitive gaming participation among youth.

The Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination detailed these plans in a written response to an inquiry from MNA Muhammad Farooq Sattar. The Prime Minister established a Task Force on E-Sports, led by the Chairman of the Prime Minister's Youth Programme.

The Ministry of Information Technology formally notified the task force, which features members from both government and private entities.

The Pakistan Sports Board assists the task force with its duties. It also aided in staging e-sports events at the Pakistan Sports Complex in Islamabad, using current sports infrastructure to support digital athletics.

20 Gaming Systems Provided to Schools

In a separate effort, the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination supplied 20 e-gaming systems to five public schools in Islamabad via the Pakistan Sports Board, spending Rs 9.10 million.

This program introduces students to e-sports and fosters wider involvement in competitive gaming.

The upcoming policy, federation, and national championship will deliver a structured approach for advancing e-sports throughout Pakistan.
