Pakistan Railways issued a Rs. 1,000 fine to the kitchen manager of the Islamabad Express following an unannounced check that uncovered poor hygiene and low-quality milk.
Abdullah Arshad, who serves as the Lahore Divisional Commercial Officer, examined the kitchen areas on the Green Line and Islamabad Express trains. Lahore Division Superintendent Inamullah ordered these checks.
Passenger facilities, hygiene levels, and the quality of food and drinks came under review during these visits.
Inspectors issued the fine after discovering poor cleanliness levels and inferior milk inside the Islamabad Express food preparation area. At the same time, officials marked the complimentary meal boxes given to travelers as acceptable.
Officials also gave the Green Line train a positive evaluation for its meal quality and free services. Still, its kitchen manager got a warning for selling local water.
Arshad evaluated other food products and sanitation standards across both cooking facilities. Personnel received orders to guarantee that travelers obtain high-grade meals and superior services.
Arshad stated that Pakistan Railways refuses to lower standards for food and drinks provided on trains, following the directives of Federal Railways Minister Muhammad Hanif Abbasi.
