The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has taken into custody two individuals in Karachi accused of posing as senior Pakistan Army and government officers to cheat citizens.

The arrests occurred during an NCCIA Karachi Zone operation in the Korangi Industrial Area, identifying the men as Muzammil, son of Badruddin Qureshi, and Hamza, son of Muhammad Aslam.

Officials said the duo falsely asserted they had connections and influence inside the military and various government departments, exploiting the Pakistan Army's name and reputation to win public trust.

They are reported to have collected sizable amounts of money by promising to arrange transfers, appointments and other official matters through these alleged links.

Authorities noted the suspects deceived people by presenting themselves as authorized military officers and offering false assurances of getting official work completed.

A case has been lodged against both under FIR No. 114/2026, invoking Section 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code and Sections 13, 14, and 16 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) Amendment Act 2025.
