Pakistan International Airlines announced on Thursday that designer Hassan Sheheryar Yasin, also known as HSY, will create its upcoming cabin crew attire. The carrier revealed the collection in Lahore on the same date, planning its first appearance for October 31, 2026, on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner flight traveling from London to Islamabad.
Ten top Pakistani designers pitched their ideas to a panel of fashion experts and industry leaders during a competitive event in Karachi before Yasin secured the role. Recognized as a leading South Asian designer, he is famous for his red-carpet outfits and international celebrity customers.
The airline stated that the new line uses a lifestyle first approach focused on ergonomic movement and long-haul durability. The clothing blends breathable, soft materials with structured cuts, incorporating color schemes and details inspired by traditional Pakistani craftsmanship.
This rollout forms part of the carrier's ongoing rebranding under its consortium-led management, blending passenger comfort, modern tailoring, and Pakistani cultural roots.
Yasin said in a release from the airline, "Designing for our national flag carrier is about capturing our collective pride and the genuine warmth of Pakistani hospitality."
He follows several notable names who previously designed outfits for the airline. In 1966, French designer Pierre Cardin produced a tunic and hood for the carrier, while royal couturier Sir Hardy Amies, who dressed Queen Elizabeth II, contributed his tailoring style in the 1970s.
A previous uniform created with inspiration from Pakistani designer Nomi Ansari stayed active for 12 years. The airline added in its statement that passengers will not wait long to see the fresh visual identity.
