Provincial authorities cleared three major medical initiatives totaling more than Rs. 37 billion across Lahore, Gujranwala, and Layyah, as announced by Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique.
Rafique stated that the initiatives received clearance following the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to enhance medical infrastructure throughout the province.
Lahore will host the Nawaz Sharif Medical District, which incorporates the Maryam Nawaz Institute of Pediatric Health Sciences with an expenditure exceeding Rs. 17.25 billion.
An additional Rs. 15.39 billion will fund the Maryam Nawaz Institute of Cardiology situated in Gujranwala, whereas upwards of Rs. 4.4 billion is designated for setting up a medical college located in Layyah.
The health minister mentioned that the Punjab Health Secretary provided administrative clearance for all three undertakings, while the Infrastructure Development Authority of Punjab and the Communication and Works Department will direct their implementation.
Rafique noted that the administration is committing substantial funds toward advanced medical facilities to deliver superior healthcare to citizens.
He further mentioned that officials are building a system of new medical facilities throughout Punjab to expand availability to proper medical care.
