Social media users shared viral videos of an unusual group of pink dolphins swimming near Qantab Beach in Muscat, Oman, drawing broad attention to the shoreline.

Clips captured the animals moving close to the coast and breaking the surface of the Gulf of Oman, shocking visitors on the sand and generating interest among animal fans.

Surrounding rocky formations and a picturesque coast define Qantab Beach. While the Gulf of Oman is home to dolphins, spotting individuals with distinct pink shades remains rare.

Marine specialists stated that the precise species remains unidentified. Natural variations in skin pigmentation, blood flow, or sunlight can cause pink coloring in marine mammals.

South American freshwater habitats host the boto, or Amazon river dolphin, which serves as a familiar comparison. As these animals age, they can acquire pink skin based on maturity, exertion, and scars.

Marine experts added that varying species can display pink skin, meaning visual appearance alone does not provide a definitive identification.
