Ray Parlour has urged Max Dowman to show his character and bounce back from his red card against Fleetwood.

Dowman received a straight red card for retaliating against a heavy challenge from Harrison Neal during Arsenal's Carabao Cup exit on Tuesday night.

The Football Association dismissed an appeal from Arsenal, confirming a three-match suspension for the teenager.

Parlour told SunSport that mistakes happen and described the 16-year-old as unlucky, noting that the manager will speak with him. He stated that football is like a rollercoaster with highs and lows, adding that Dowman has a good family around him.

The former midfielder recalled his own red card against Newcastle United in 2001 when Arsenal lost 3-1 after he was dismissed before halftime. Parlour mentioned feeling guilty and apologizing to his teammates after that match.

Dowman will now miss Arsenal's match away against Liverpool on Sunday. Parlour warned that the club cannot afford another defeat following the cup exit.

Parlour spoke at the launch of Oakley Meta's new film titled We Go Again, which celebrates Arsenal's partnership with the brand.
