Football is an emotional game.

Supporters express their feelings in a whole manner of ways, whether it is celebrating an epic win or spouting off when witnessing your team suffer yet another loss.

Just like the fans, the players feel it too, which is why some struggle to control their emotions in the heat of the action.

Take Bruno Fernandes, for example. After Man Utd's stirring comeback against Roma in the Champions League, he couldn't hide his emotions and dropped the F-bomb, forcing host Gabby Logan to apologise to viewers.

Fernandes is not alone in turning the airwaves blue. This look at football interviews examines the players who have memorably sworn on live TV.

Erling Haaland and His Blunt Assessment

In 2024, Haaland ended a drought of four games without a goal after scoring against Leicester.

And, in typical style for the Norwegian, the Man City poacher just batted off a Sky Sports reporter's question.

When asked about moving forward after a poor run, Haaland was heard saying s*** happens.

Cue nervous laughter from the reporter, who is forced to move along swiftly.

Jude Bellingham Defies Critics on Live Television

Superstar Jude has been partial to an expletive or two during his career.

Most famously, during an interview with CBS Sports pundit Thierry Henry, the midfielder was praised for his work-rate off the ball, leading to a question if fans miss that side of his game.

But Bellingham was not interested in what his critics thought, brutally hitting back as he said: No, I couldn't give a s***, really.

The midfielder held up his hand and immediately apologised, before Micah Richards intervened by quipping: Wow. It's still early in America.

Roy Keane Brings Punditry Passion to the Studio

Keane was quite sweary as a player, think that bust-up with Patrick Vieira in the tunnel at Highbury that was caught on camera as he defended team-mate Gary Neville.

The Man Utd legend has taken that passion to his punditry work, amusing his peers.

In 2024, Keane ranted about Ireland's football association to ITV.

At half-time, with Ireland 2-0 down to England, Keane was notably annoyed.

Speaking during the break, Keane said: There's a lot of good people in the FAI.

But the people who are making the decisions probably couldn't organise a p** up in a brewery.

Fellow pundit Ian Wright burst out laughing, while presenter Mark Pougatch dryly replied, that's one way to put it!

Wayne Rooney and His Historic 2011 Outburst

Rooney took swearing on live TV to a whole new level in 2011.

During a tense match against West Ham, the Man Utd icon inspired a comeback from 2-0 down to win 4-2.

After netting his hat-trick, Rooney dropped TWO F-bombs, direct to the camera, as he celebrated his goal.

He was slapped with a two-game ban by the FA, and later apologised to all the parents and children watching for his choice words.

Micah Richards Overcome With Adrenaline

In 2006, when Richards was a breakout star for Man City, he scored a dramatic last-minute bullet header against Aston Villa.

Pumped with adrenaline after the game, perhaps it wasn't the wisest decision to have him do a post-match interview with Match of the Day after the game.

Garth Crooks asked him: Well Micah extraordinary finish, what did you make of it?

A visibly overcome Richards replied: Ahh, it was just great to be out there... f******... I just can't believe it.

One minute we were 1-0 down and then the last minute I got the goal. So not much more I can ask for really.

Conor Haughey Reacts to a Carabao Cup Shock

Fleetwood pulled off one of the shocks of the century - knocking Arsenal out of the Carabao Cup on penalties last month.

Penalty hero Conor Haughey rudely explained his tactic after the game.

He said: I don't know - just pick my spot and put it in. Top corner and then just run to f***.

We've just beaten the Premier League champions, it just shows how good this team are.

Sky Sports soon apologised for Haughey's industrial language.

Rayan Cherki Joins the List of Language Slip-Ups

In August, French star Cherki showed his grasp of the English language.

Standing next to team-mate Erling Haaland, the playmaker wasn't so happy with his performance in the first half of a 4-1 win over Crystal Palace.

He told the interviewer: My performance was so-so.

In the first half, we didn't find the space. I played so s***.

When I see Enzo wants to change me, I don't like that, and I need to show them I want to play, I want to score, I want to give an assist to Erling.

Erling, a sweary offender of the past, couldn't help but laugh out loud at Cherki's naughty comment.
