Zong, Pakistan's leading technology services enterprise, convened national cyber authorities, regulators, telecom operators, and academic experts in Islamabad to enhance cooperation for securing the digital future of Pakistan. The meetings addressed rising cyber threats by stressing the necessity of shared accountability, joint action, and strong digital infrastructure to create a secure online environment.

This industry gathering took place during the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority national Cybersecurity Awareness Week 2026, operating under the theme Building a Safe, Secure and Resilient Cyberspace. Dr. Khawar Siddique Khokhar, who serves as Member Compliance and Enforcement at the PTA, participated as the chief guest alongside high-ranking officials from the PTA, PKCERT, the Ministry of IT and Telecom, various regulatory agencies, other telecom providers, and executives from Zong.

During his opening remarks, Zong Chief Technology Officer Mao Weiliang stated that digital security needs integration into the base of 5G, artificial intelligence, and broader technological expansion in Pakistan. He noted that Zong uses layered security systems, strict access controls, and constant AI security operations to handle threats, while adding that technology alone is insufficient since security remains a shared obligation for everyone involved in maintaining trusted networks.

PKCERT Director General Dr. Haider Abbas spoke about national preparedness and ongoing cooperation throughout the digital network. Brig. Dr. Muhammad Mukaram Khan, who is Director General CVD at the PTA, also spoke to attendees regarding the development of a secure and resilient digital nation.

Ali Waqas, Executive Director of Information Technology at Zong, focused on governance and data protection, while Rehan Siddiq, Head of Information Security, discussed artificial intelligence applications in defense and the requirement to protect AI platforms. The talks centered on joint efforts against emerging risks such as phishing, SIM fraud, and deepfakes.

For Zong, security represents a key priority in transitioning toward a technology services enterprise centered on artificial intelligence and digital growth. Protecting networks and information platforms builds trust and enables safe participation in the digital economy as new users come online.

Throughout the week, Zong promoted security awareness among staff and subscribers to encourage safe digital habits and protect the national network.

As Pakistan speeds up its digital expansion, Zong continues working alongside regulators and industry allies to improve security, maintain digital trust, and build an intelligent society where users connect safely.
