During the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, The Hub Power Company Limited generated a net profit totalling Rs. 12.8 billion, which represents a 10 percent increase compared to the same period of the previous year.
Earnings per share reached Rs. 9.86 for the firm. Profits dropped compared to the preceding quarter because gross profit fell by 1 percent, the previous quarter featured a lower effective tax rate, and associates generated a smaller share of profit.
Channel checks indicate that HUBC announced a dividend of Rs. 5 per share for 1QFY27, backed by dividend inflows originating primarily from China Power Hub Generation Company (Private) Limited. Standalone dividend income reached Rs. 9.70 billion during the quarter, amounting to Rs. 7.48 per share.
Consolidated revenue for HUBC grew by 27 percent year over year to reach Rs. 22.1 billion, powered by increased plant utilization. Utilization at NEL climbed to 18 percent in 1QFY27 compared to 4 percent in 1QFY26, while CPHGC ran at roughly 99 percent utilization despite seasonal demand and RLNG supply issues.
TEL and TNPTL kept their utilization levels at 88 percent and 83 percent respectively, whereas LEL experienced a sharp jump in utilization to 31 percent from 10 percent during the corresponding period last year.
Profits coming from associates reached Rs. 12.7 billion in 1QFY27, shifting from Rs. 13.0 billion in 4QFY26 and Rs. 10.8 billion in 1QFY26, beating forecasts. The quarterly drop stemmed mainly from earnings normalization at PRIME, TNPTL, and CPHGC, though figures stayed high.
Financial expenses dropped 13 percent year over year, helped by ongoing loan payments linked to CPEC projects alongside the effects of reduced interest rates.
The effective tax rate for 1QFY27 settled at 24.7 percent, contrasting with 19.3 percent in 1QFY26 and 1.4 percent during the prior quarter.
