The Pharmacy Services and Drug Control unit of Islamabad's Health Department has reinforced the prohibition on selling pregabalin-containing medicines without a valid prescription, ordering pharmacies and pharmacists to fully adhere to the rule.

In a public and pharmacists' alert issued by the Pharmacy Services and Drug Control section, the restriction is being applied according to directions released on July 10, 2026.

All licensed pharmacies and pharmacists have been instructed to dispense pregabalin-containing medicines solely against valid prescriptions.

The department emphasized that following the directive is vital to protect public health and ensure the safe use of medicines.

It also called on the public to seek advice from qualified medical practitioners before obtaining prescription medicines and to follow medical guidance for safe usage.
