Authorities have lifted traffic fines on Lahore Ring Road, aiming to curb unsafe driving practices.
The Punjab Ring Road Authority says the updated schedule covers offences like overspeeding, driving without a licence, illegal overtaking, lane breaches and under-age driving.
Anyone caught without a valid licence will now be charged Rs. 5,000, a rise from the previous Rs. 500.
Overspeeding penalties have also risen: vehicles up to 2,000cc face Rs. 5,000, while those over 2,000cc may be fined Rs. 10,000.
Wrong overtaking follows the same tiered system - Rs. 5,000 for smaller cars and Rs. 10,000 for larger ones.
Improper lane use carries a Rs. 2,000 fine, and driving against traffic or ignoring one-way signs attracts Rs. 5,000.
Overloading fees jump from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 7,000, and illegal parking now costs Rs. 2,000 instead of Rs. 1,000.
Under-age drivers face one of the steepest fines at Rs. 10,000.
Vehicles with black or tinted windows, as well as those lacking proper number plates or using non-standard plates, will each be fined Rs. 5,000.
Motorcycles that enter the Ring Road despite restrictions will be penalised Rs. 5,000.
Pedestrians crossing illegally will now be charged Rs. 1,000, up from Rs. 200.
Using a mobile phone while driving or not wearing a seat belt results in a Rs. 3,000 fine, increased from Rs. 500.
Bringing animals onto the Ring Road incurs a Rs. 5,000 penalty.
Vehicles emitting smoke will be fined Rs. 4,000 for cars and Rs. 5,000 for commercial vehicles.
The new fine structure forms part of the Punjab Ring Road Authority's broader push to boost road discipline, lower dangerous driving and tighten traffic enforcement on Lahore Ring Road.
