Singapore Airlines Announces Massive Cabin Overhaul

Passengers flying with Singapore Airlines can expect entirely redesigned interiors across all four travel classes as part of a major investment project. The carrier has revealed a massive £1.16 billion overhaul of its cabin products, touching every part of the passenger experience from the back of the aircraft to the front suites. The upgrade program covers new seating, entertainment systems, dining menus, and amenity kits designed to enhance comfort on long-haul routes.

The extensive investment reflects ongoing competition within the global aviation sector as carriers work to attract high-spending travelers. The upgrades are scheduled to roll out in the second half of 2027. Chief Executive Officer Mr Goh Choon Phong spoke about the corporate strategy behind the project. Mr Goh Choon Phong, Chief Executive Officer, Singapore Airlines, said, Our customers experience Singapore Airlines as one journey, and this investment is designed to deliver greater comfort, choice, and convenience at every stage.

He added, This launch is not an endpoint, but another step in our continuous pursuit to earn and retain the trust and loyalty of our customers and reinforce our leadership in the airline industry.

Economy Class Upgrades and New Features

Travelers flying in the economy cabin will experience a fresh aesthetic and improved functional design. The new economy seats will feature a grey and teal color scheme with a width of 44.7cm. Each seat will include a 33cm 4K OLED screen mounted on the backrest, allowing passengers to pair their personal Bluetooth headphones directly to the inflight entertainment system.

Below each screen, travelers will find dedicated storage nooks, a personal device pocket, and cup holders to keep items secure during the flight. Economy passengers will also receive amenity kits, a perk usually reserved for upper classes. Each seat will come with a small pouch containing a selection of travel essentials.

Premium Economy Enhancements

The premium economy cabin receives significant upgrades aimed at long-haul comfort. Each seat will feature a 101cm pitch and a durable leather finish. The design allows the seat to recline by 22.8cm, providing a more relaxed posture for sleeping or resting.

For added ergonomic support, the headrests will be winged, and each seat will include an integrated footrest. Technological additions mirror those in other cabins, including 4K screens, multiple USB ports, and noise-cancelling headphone connections. Passengers in premium economy will also receive amenity kits featuring Ink and Water products.

Business Class Suite Style Pods

Business class travelers will see a transition toward private, enclosed spaces. Seats will feature sliding doors and adjustable dividers, making them resemble suite-style pods styled in grey and yellow tones. These seats will recline into a fully lie-flat bed stretching 182cm in length.

Technological capabilities in business class include 4K screens, Bluetooth connectivity, multiple charging ports, and Starlink wifi access. Amenity kits provided at each business class seat will include products created by Byredo. In addition to the hardware upgrades, 41 A350-900 long-haul and A350-900 ULR planes will be retrofitted with these new business class seats.

First Class Private Suites and Double Beds

At the front of the aircraft, the first-class experience undergoes a dramatic transformation. Passengers in the first-class suites will have their own private door. The seat measures 76.2cm wide and extends to 203.2cm long when configured as a flat bed.

The two center suites feature seats positioned next to each other that resemble a comfortable sofa. These center seats can be reclined and joined together to form a 152.4cm wide double bed, representing the largest bed offered by any commercial airline in the sky. Suites will also feature 4K screens, ambient mood lighting, and wireless charging capabilities.

For personal grooming, the suites include a dressing table that slides out from under the screen, complete with a lit-up mirror. First-class amenity kits will include products from Sisley, and passengers will also be provided with cotton pyjamas.

Fleet Integration and Enhanced Dining

The new cabin products will be installed on incoming aircraft and select existing planes in the fleet. Singapore Airlines' 777-9s will feature all four new cabin products upon delivery. Meanwhile, the A350-900 ULR planes will receive first-class seats for the first time in their operational history.

Beyond physical seating changes, the onboard dining experience is receiving a comprehensive upgrade. The airline is introducing more than 100 new appetisers, main courses, and desserts across all cabin classes. Passengers will also be able to choose from new drink options, including expanded selections of wine and spirits.
