Robot training data startup Maxinsights secured $30M in seed funding for operational expansion. Peak XV headed the funding round, alongside contributions from Tola Capital, South Park Commons, INCE Capital, and Alumni Ventures. Headquartered in Santa Clara, the enterprise intends to direct the funds toward growing its data gathering platform built for artificial intelligence creators.

Robotics engineers confront a major deficit of real-world training information, unlike text-based models that pull from existing internet archives. Chief executive and founder Yuguang Yuan explained that large language models acquired writing skills because people spent decades filling the web with text. Machines do not possess a comparable library depicting daily physical tasks through a first-person viewpoint.

"We built the whole pipeline ourselves, from the hand-tracking models to the platform that scores every operator's footage as it arrives, because nobody was going to sell us the pieces that make messy real-world data usable," said Yuguang (YG) Yuan, founder and CEO of Maxinsights. "Robots get deployed into real kitchens, not staged ones, and something unexpected happens every few minutes. Edge cases are the job, and the only way to get them is to record real work in real homes. Collecting one great hour of data is easy, and holding quality across millions of hours and thousands of people is what we built the company to do."

Maxinsights hires over 5,000 independent contractors spread across six countries to bridge this deficit. These participants strap on specialized cameras on their heads, wrists, and chests while carrying out everyday jobs like cleaning homes, cooking meals, and washing cars. The firm records authentic human motion at standard speeds instead of staging actions within controlled laboratory settings.

The business has accumulated more than two million hours of video so far, running millions of clips through its automated quality assurance software named MaxLoop. This system assesses incoming video streams daily to maintain strict standards while reducing review expenses.

The company also collaborated with developers to create MaxGlove, which is a specialized sensor glove made to track grip strength and object weight alongside visual information. As investments in physical artificial intelligence grow worldwide, platforms such as Maxinsights supply foundational elements for future robotic systems.
