Pakistan Railways prohibited flight travel for all personnel on Saturday as part of new austerity steps, requiring staff to use trains for duty trips instead of state automobiles.

The formal order specified that the department will not disburse any funds for air journeys. Senior general managers and chief executive officers all approved these new instructions.

Simultaneously, Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi ordered a departmental emergency to guarantee secure train journeys.

Headquarters in Lahore released a statement cancelling all field officer leave for three months and ordering these staff members to inspect operations on Sundays too.

Civil and Mechanical Chief Engineers must send daily updates on their sectors to the Ministry, and the Head of Safety must also submit daily reports. This emergency stays active until December 31.

Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi stated that authorities aim to deliver the most secure travel conditions for passengers, matching the Prime Minister vision.
