Joan Laporta left Thierry Henry completely bewildered during the Ballon d'Or ceremony in London after accepting the Women's Club of the Year trophy on behalf of Barcelona.
Barcelona secured the team honor following a stellar season that included victories in the Liga F title, Copa de la Reina, Spanish Super Cup, and Champions League.
Accepting the trophy, club president Laporta stated, "Thank you for giving us this award, it is a great honour. I would like to thank everyone involved with the team."
He added, "I am thinking about our players, you are fantastic. The coach too, Pere Romeu, the directors, everyone involved in women's football."
Laporta accepted the prize by himself, even though eight players from the previous squad earned nominations for the main prize and were present at the event.
Spectators expressed confusion when Henry asked the president about the significance of Barcelona winning the Women's Champions League earlier in the year, and Laporta seemingly mixed up the query with the men's competition.
He replied, "We would like to bring back the Champions League that we won with you in 2009."
That prompted Henry to answer, "Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, no..."
The Barcelona chief then jumped back in to continue, "Of course we focus our efforts this season to win, three times in a row, the Spanish league."
He added, "At the same time we would like to win the Champions League. It is very difficult because the opponents are very strong, very powerful as well. But we feel that we can do it this season."
Henry responded again with, "Oh... okay," before the crowd slowly began to clap.
The former Arsenal star wore a puzzled expression throughout Laporta's speech.
Supporters quickly noticed the mishap online, with one posting, "Henry's face when Laporta started talking about the men's team, while receiving the women's team award..."
Another wrote, "Henry asked Laporta about the importance of winning the UWCL and this man started yapping about the men's Champions League."
SunSport reached out to Barcelona for a statement.
