Apple has rolled out refreshed 14-inch MacBook Pro and iMac models that both run the new M6 processor.

The MacBook Pro replaces the M5-based version launched in 2025, while the iMac receives its first chip upgrade since the M4 model debuted in 2024.

Both machines deliver higher processing power, quicker wireless connections and added AI functions.

Pricing begins at $1,999 for the MacBook Pro and $1,499 for the iMac, with pre-orders opening on October 28.

Faster M6 MacBook Pro

The updated 14-inch MacBook Pro is powered by Apple's M6 chip, which includes a 12-core CPU and a 12-core GPU.

The CPU combines two high-performance cores, four additional performance cores and six efficiency cores.

The GPU integrates Neural Accelerators in each core and supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing for demanding graphics.

A Dual 16-core Neural Engine is also built in to boost AI tasks.

Apple says the new MacBook Pro offers up to 30% faster graphics and 25% better AI performance compared with the prior M5 model.

Standard memory is 16 GB unified, with upgrade options to 24 GB or 32 GB.

The base 16 GB configuration provides 153 GB/s memory bandwidth, while the 24 GB and 32 GB options reach up to 170 GB/s.

Storage starts at 1 TB, with 2 TB and 4 TB choices available.

Improved Connectivity and Battery Life

The MacBook Pro now uses Apple's N1 wireless chip, adding Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 support.

Apple claims the laptop can last up to 24 hours on a single charge.

All other specifications stay the same, including the 14-inch Liquid Retina XDR display, 12 MP Center Stage camera, six-speaker audio system and the existing ports.

The device runs macOS 27 and is offered in Space Black and Silver.

iMac Gets Two M6 Chip Options

Apple also refreshed the iMac with M6 chips, providing two configurations.

The entry model houses a 10-core CPU (two high-performance, three performance and five efficiency cores) and a 10-core GPU.

The higher-end version matches the MacBook Pro with a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU.

Both iMacs support hardware-accelerated ray tracing, GPU Neural Accelerators and a Dual 16-core Neural Engine.

Apple states the new iMac can achieve up to five times faster on-device AI performance than the previous M4 model.

Memory, Storage and Other Features

Each iMac ships with 16 GB unified memory and a 256 GB SSD as standard.

The entry iMac can be upgraded to 24 GB, while the higher-end version allows 24 GB or 32 GB.

Both configurations list 170 GB/s memory bandwidth, even for the base 16 GB model.

Storage can be increased to 512 GB or 1 TB on either model; the higher-end iMac also offers a 2 TB option.

The iMac incorporates the N1 wireless chip, delivering Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 connectivity.

An optional nano-texture glass finish is available for the display to cut reflections.

Aside from these upgrades, the iMac retains the same overall design as its predecessor.
