Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi admitted that efforts to stop extremist material on social media are not enough, noting that major tech companies met under half of the removal demands sent by Pakistani officials.

Addressing the National Assembly in a written response, Naqvi stated that social media firms followed 23.7 percent of the directives issued by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority and 47.1 percent of the calls made by Counter-Terrorism Departments.

Statistics broken down by platform revealed that X answered 7.4 percent of the demands, YouTube responded to 1.9 percent, and Facebook addressed 38 percent.

Authorities shared these statistics while answering inquiries regarding anti-terrorism measures and attempts to restrict radical material online.

The minister additionally told the assembly that law enforcement carried out 5,143 intelligence-based operations nationwide between January 1 and September 29, 2026, which led to 2,410 terrorists killed, 806 wounded, and 3,518 suspects detained.

According to Naqvi, security forces executed these counterterrorism missions pursuant to the National Action Plan.
