WhatsApp is currently building a media hub for iOS devices to help users locate shared photos, videos, links, and other media in a single location, according to discoveries in the latest WhatsApp beta version 26.42.10.74.
Last year, WhatsApp brought the media hub to Mac computers and the web. The platform is now bringing the capability to iPhones so people can easily revisit content exchanged in chats. Located inside the app settings, the media hub will contain only received media, leaving out disappearing content and items sent by the user.
Two tabs will be included in the feature: New, showing recently received files, and All Media, containing the full collection. Users will have the ability to filter files by links, videos, or photos. People can also toggle between grid and list views, or click a heart icon to locate items they previously reacted to.
Several management tools will be provided inside the hub. Users can star media, add reactions, forward files to other chats, or jump straight to the original conversation where the content was shared.
A search tool is also coming to the hub to help locate precise content. This search function will read links and captions for videos and photos, helping people find older files without recalling their exact arrival date.
Development is ongoing, meaning the media hub is not currently accessible to beta testers. WhatsApp plans to roll out testing in a future update, though no official release schedule has been announced.
