Fauji Cement Company Limited, trading on the PSX as FCCL, announced a net profit of Rs. 4.96 billion for the first quarter of fiscal year 2026-27, marking a 51 percent rise compared to the same period last year, though dropping 8 percent from the preceding quarter.

The company registered earnings per share at Rs. 2.02, meeting market forecasts. Net sales grew by 11 percent annually, aided by a 12 percent rise in domestic shipments.

Nevertheless, total shipments expanded by just 5 percent from a year ago, mainly because exports stopped entirely after the border with Afghanistan was closed.

Gross margins rose to 36 percent due to better retention prices driven by higher market rates and efficiency measures, such as state-backed incremental power tariffs and manufacturing polypropylene bags internally.

Selling costs climbed 17 percent year over year, largely driven by rising petroleum prices that inflated freight charges. On the other hand, financing expenses dropped 42 percent against the previous quarter due to early loan settlements. Short-term debt fell 92 percent and long-term borrowings dropped 10 percent from the last quarter.

The company reported an effective tax rate of 38 percent, compared to 37.9 percent during the same timeframe last year and 22.8 percent in the prior quarter.
