South Korean financial institutions experienced another wave of cyberattacks, drawing attention to increasing threats of artificial intelligence-powered hacking across Asia. Brokerages Daishin Securities and Mirae Asset Global Investments, along with crypto exchange Bithumb, encountered these recent security breaches.

This event follows a prior group of cyberattacks directed at South Korean financial entities about a month ago, pointing to weaknesses stretching outside traditional banking frameworks. Security analysts connected the September intrusions in South Korea to a potential China-based hacker using an artificial intelligence penetration testing tool named Artex, although authorities continue to examine the exact cause of these newest breaches.

Daishin experienced a cyberattack leaking the personal data of 38,490 clients, such as names, electronic mail addresses, and cell phone numbers, local reporting shows. The organization alerted impacted clients, works alongside investigators, and promises to reimburse damages mandated by legislation.

At the same time, Mirae and Bithumb disclosed distinct digital security events on Wednesday according to local press reports, while neither verified whether user information was stolen.

Seoul financial officials announced on Wednesday that the national financial regulator demanded heightened digital defense protocols following multiple attacks hitting finance companies and state bodies. The nation additionally intends to perform safety inspections on numerous private information technology infrastructures.

Japan disclosed a digital security breach involving GMO Internet yesterday, trailing previous attacks against its financial organizations. Multiple cyberattacks throughout Asia point to expanding digital defense hurdles in the area, frequently stemming from extended periods of inadequate safety practices, although detectives have not linked the cases together.

The Financial Services Commission of South Korea, Daishin Securities, Bithumb, and Mirae Asset Global Investments did not reply right away to inquiries seeking statements.
