Pakistan reached an outstanding agriculture financing total of Rs. 1.329 trillion, providing support to roughly 3.5 million borrowers, the Finance Division reported.

During the sixth meeting of the Access to Finance Steering Committee held in Islamabad on October 28, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb examined these recent statistics and demanded quicker disbursements alongside stronger initiatives to broaden credit access for small businesses and farmers.

Authorities approved 20,176 loan applications totaling Rs. 8.674 billion through the official Zarkhez-e: Asaan Zarai Qarza Scheme. Out of that total, officials distributed 6,132 collateral-free loans amounting to about Rs. 2.34 billion to smallholder farmers.

Discussions during the committee session also covered methods to grow financing options for dairy and livestock enterprises while boosting private-sector involvement throughout agricultural supply chains.

Aurangzeb pressed responsible institutions to speed up small and medium enterprise and agricultural credit, stating that credit availability must deliver real advantages for businesses, farmers, and neglected populations.
