Pakistan Petroleum Ltd earned Rs99 billion after tax in FY26, while collections reached a company record of Rs284 billion. The oil and gas explorer also reported 11 discoveries that added 242 billion cubic feet to its proven and probable reserves.
Shareholders approve final dividend
The results were presented at PPL's 75th annual general meeting on Tuesday in Karachi. Shareholders approved the FY26 financial statements and the reports submitted by the directors and auditors.
They also approved a final cash dividend of 60% on ordinary shares. That brought the total dividend for the financial year to 120%.
Production rises despite gas curtailment
Average production stood at 649 million cubic feet per day, approximately 3% above the previous year despite gas curtailment. PPL's drilling and exploration results for FY26 included:
- Seven exploration wells and four development wells drilled.
- Two discoveries in assets operated by PPL.
- Nine discoveries in assets operated by partners.
- An addition of 242 billion cubic feet to proven and probable reserves.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Khalid Abdul Rehman said the company had kept its attention on efficient operations and financial discipline amid difficult conditions. He cited geopolitical uncertainty, energy-market volatility, gas curtailment, declining mature fields, security concerns and growing circular debt among the challenges.
Offshore portfolio expands
According to a company press release, PPL obtained eight offshore blocks through Pakistan's Offshore Bidding Round 2025. It will operate two of those blocks and participate as a partner in the other six.
Rehman said a farm-out agreement with Turkish Petroleum Overseas Company covering Eastern Offshore Indus Block C had reinforced energy cooperation between Pakistan and Türkiye. PPL also continued development work at Offshore Block 5 in Abu Dhabi through Pakistan International Oil Ltd, which it operates.
Minerals become a broader focus
Alongside its oil and gas activities, PPL is expanding into minerals and assessing opportunities across the wider energy value chain. Rehman said the creation of a dedicated unit, PPL Minerals, reflected the company's commitment to developing Pakistan's mineral potential.
The BLZ project has moved into execution, while the company's mineral exploration presence has grown in Chagai. PPL is also evaluating opportunities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
